Trick or Treating
Halloween is coming up in a little more than a month and it got me wondering what I should do this year. I'm 16, I drive a car, so walking around isn't something I do too much outside of school, so why would I wanna do it for some crazy holiday? However, I do love candy and that is a major con in missing out on trick or treating this year. However, candy is not my favorite part of Halloween...the costumes are. I don't know why but wearing costumes is something I've loved since I was a kid. And those feelings have stuck with me ever since. So I have the option of going to a Halloween party this year, and getting no candy, or I can trick or treat and get a ton of candy but that involves plenty of walking and being very cold (depending on the weather which will most likely be very cold). So needless to say this year's Halloween will be different from the rest no matter which decision I make.

Jake,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting. I remember the first year I stopped trick or treating--and while it was sad to be candy-less, it was fun to celebrate the holiday in a new way. I like that in your post you reflected on what you like about the holiday and what has changed as you've gotten older. Maybe ask the question about why people like costumes--what is it about dressing up that puts people in a different mood?
Add a visual to your next post--maybe some costume ideas!
Thanks,
Ms. Greenswag
I miss Trick-or-Treating - go get some candy, Jake! (And bring some in for Greenswag and I, who are DEFINITELY too old to trick-or-treat!)
